Meet Managing Attorney
Odiator "Odi" Arugu
Odi Arugu, Esq., is the lead attorney of The Florida Law Firm in Orlando, Florida.
Odi Arugu has practiced law for 37 years to date, counseling and representing individuals and businesses in the City of Lagos, in Nigeria, his birth country, and subsequently, in Orlando, Florida, USA.
He is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Law, where he obtained a Master of Laws degree in taxation (LL.M.) in 1990 and a Juris Doctorate degree in Law (J.D.) in 1994.
Upon graduation, Odi joined the national law firm of Baker and Hostetler, LLP in Orlando, Florida. Odi practiced in the areas of tax law, business law, estate planning, wills, and trusts.
Six years later, he founded The Florida Law Firm, plc, also in Orlando. The firm represents individuals and small businesses in a full-service practice, handling a wide range of legal projects and problems for its clients.
Before moving to the USA, Odi earned a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honors (LL.B. (Hons.) in 1982 from the University of Jos, in Jos City, Nigeria. He continued his legal education at the Nigerian Law School, in Lagos, Nigeria, where he obtained a Barrister at Law degree (BL.) in 1983.
The same year, Odi went into private law practice in the City of Lagos. He practiced law at a high level with prominent Nigerian lawyers, including Chief Olowofeyekun, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and Chief Akintunde Akinbisehin, a former Nigerian Senator. After that, Odi founded The Igoniani Chambers, a Lagos law firm specializing in business transactions and litigation.
Odi generously gives his time, knowledge and resources to his family and community. While at the University of Florida, he served as the president of the John Marshall Bar Association, the Student Bar. In Orlando, Odi joined in founding the African American Chamber of Commerce, drafted its original bylaws, and served as legal counsel for the chamber. Odi attends the River of Life Christian Center in Orlando, where he has served and continues to serve in various capacities since 2001 under Pastors Marvin and Deborah Jackson.
Odi has been married to his wife, Erekpeyi F. Arugu, since 2002. The couple is blessed with three beautiful children, a girl, and two boys.
